Once you’ve selected a date, location and registered your event, it’s time to plan the details.
Spread the Word:
Get the word out about what you’re doing to raise money for cancer research and patient care. Take time to write down your story and share it with others. Personalize your fundraising webpage and share your story by email and on social media. Visit our pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for inspiration, and download a timeline photo that you can use on your profile. The more you spread the word, the better chance you have of meeting and exceeding your fundraising goal!
Invite your friends, family, neighbors, classmates and co-workers to join you in Goin’ Bald for Bucks. Motivate others to join you by sharing the personal reason why you are shaving. If someone does not want to participate, don’t be disappointed – just ask them to support the cause by donating instead!
The funds you raise are critical to our mission to find cancer cures and save lives. You may be surprised by how many people have a cancer connection, so don’t be shy about asking for donations. For our most effective tips and ideas, visit our fundraising section.
Nail Down the Details:
You have your date, time and location, so it’s time to start sweating the small stuff. Who will be doing the shaving? Are you going to sell food, hosting a basket raffle or doing any other fundraising at the event? Do you need volunteers to help? These are all things to think about as you plan your event. Check out our event materials page for further instruction and ideas.
The Big Day:
When the big day arrives, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to set up and prepare for the event. Review our checklist in the event guide to be sure that everything is ready to go. Don’t forget to take photos and post them to social media using the hashtag #BaldforBucks!
Congratulations! You have just made a tremendous difference in the fight against cancer. Give yourself a round of applause and celebrate what you just accomplished!
Say Thank You:
Your event is now complete, but many people helped you along the way. Be sure to take the time to thank your donors and all of those people who helped make your event a great success!
